Breakfast Nook: Changing Table

Furniture, Project Gallery / Friday, February 22nd, 2019

Do you have a breakfast nook in your home? How do you utilize this space? Our breakfast nook has a table in it, just not a dining table. Our table is more of the baby changing table variety, complete with changing pad and diapers. Yup! That’s the season of life we are in currently. Although fingers crossed we will be potty training the twins this summer and will say goodbye to diapers! After that, I may need to switch up this space again.

Breakfast nook idea

Because the twins’ nursery is upstairs in our home, it just doesn’t make sense for me to run upstairs every time one of them needs a diaper. Before they were born, I moved a small wood buffet into the breakfast nook and made it into a changing station.

Our tiny laundry room is directly behind the changing table wall. As a result of the proximity, the buffet also serves as an extension of our mudroom. We store kids winter gloves and hats in the drawers. Or come summertime we switch the winter wear out for pool towels, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Buffet Paint Color

I have painted this buffet several different colors over the years, but most recently I changed it to Cotton White. So far this is my favorite color! I love how easy it is to change the look of furniture with paint!

I don’t foresee having a dining table in our breakfast nook, even after the need for a changing table is gone. However, maybe a built-in window seat? How do you use your breakfast nook?

Thanks for stopping by!
