About me

Hello, my name is Emily!

I am a Colorado dairy farmer’s wife and a mom of three. I have the privilege to stay home full-time, caring for our kids, as crazy and exhausting as it is at times. And honestly, I truly LOVE it!

I also love…PROJECTS and LISTS! Some people may hear these words and cringe or feel overwhelmed. I hear them and am filled with excitement and possibility. To me, projects provide a creative outlet; it’s work that energizes me.

I love being able to see change and progress. Parenting can be challenging to see accomplishment or change, unlike adding a fresh coat of paint to a dresser . There isn’t a list I can check off as a mom or a wife. Transformation and progress look different and have their own timelines. I wish I could have a dramatic before and after reveal of myself as a mom or wife, but that’s not how it works. I am in progress and projects have been and continue to be fun endeavors for me to build, create, change and give.

So, why start a blog? I want to share how fun and easy projects can be and that you are capable of doing them and doing them well. I hear so often, “Emily, I am not like you. I can’t do such and such.” I will say it a hundred times, “YES YOU CAN!” I truly believe that most projects can be done with a little instruction and a “can-do-attitude”. That may seem cheesy, but I really believe it.

I have done many projects with little to no experience and I have learned much along the way. I have had huge project failures and great successes. On this blog, I will share both with you. I want to share my knowledge, my experience and what I have learned over the years.

The focus of my posts will be projects you can do at home, with a few tools and a bit of time. Most people I know don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on updates, new furniture, remodels, decor, etc. I know I don’t!

Hopefully, what you will find here is simple, budget friendly and totally doable! Maybe you are a stay at home mom, like me, and are thinking that you can’t build a table or paint a dresser or install trim and I say YES YOU CAN! It may look different and be on a different timeline than you would like (example: working around nap times or school pickups) but it is possible. Maybe you don’t own any tools and are concerned you won’t be able to accomplish certain projects, well, I will try to include a variety of projects and alternative options (for instance, if you don’t own a miter saw or don’t even know what that is).

No doubt most of you have things in mind that you would like to do, but just haven’t. I have an entire project list, thus the name of my blog. Maybe, you have some of the same items on your list as mine, or maybe not. As I check off projects, I will share them here so you can be inspired to start some of your own.

At the end of the day, my hope is that this blog will encourage you all to try some new things, make some beautiful additions to your world and enjoy the gift we have to create.

Let’s get going!

Emily

This is me most days when I am out in the garage working; grubby clothes, messy hair, safety glasses and typically my husbands old tennis shoes. They are a little big for me but I like being able to slip them on and off when I run into the house. And I always have some music playing or am listening to an audio book. Sounds crazy to some, but this is my happy place.
